The unit explores the rise of an emerging organisational form—the project-based organisation. It addresses the environmental forces that give rise to project-based organisations and the requisite governance systems required to coordinate across projects, programs and portfolios, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and the creation of value for the organisation. Leadership theories and the competencies of project leadership, which are required to support effective governance when managing projects, are also reviewed.
