The Master of Managerial Analytics teaches advanced level analytical concepts and data-driven decision making frameworks. You will develop a deeper understanding of analysis techniques, proven to enhance business performance.
You will develop a deeper understanding for key concepts and frameworks that enable the responsible use of data recognition of the unique limits of when and how data should be used to enhance organisational performance.
You’ll also learn to use modern data analysis tools, such as Power BI and RStudio, and to demonstrate skills in design of analytical projects. You’ll have substantial flexibility in the electives to tailor the course to meet your professional goals. This will enable you to delve into developing more technical analytical skills, go broader to apply analytics across sectors, or go outside of analytics to extend your knowledge in complementary disciplines such as project management.

Design analytics projects using Power BI and RStudio data visualisation tools. Gain basic skills to use SQL and R for the exploration and visualisation of complex data. - Deep understanding of data-driven decisions

Pathways to a masters degree
You can graduate with a Master of Managerial Analytics in approximately 2 years part-time, after completing 12 units (72 credit points total).
You can also exit the course after completing approximately 0.7 years part-time, 4 units (24 credit points), and you’ll receive a Graduate Certificate of Managerial Analytics.

To be awarded the Master of Managerial Analytics, you must complete 12 units in total.

Part A. Foundation studies
You must complete the following four units:
Decision making for managers
Data and analytics in organisations and society
Data analytics and insights generation
Reporting for strategy and change
Part B. Analytics methods
You must complete any two units from the following:
Data exploration, visualisation, and information design
Quantitative analysis and data modelling
Data reporting, presentation and dashboards
Part C. Application studies
You must complete one of the following units:

You must also complete five units from across Monash Online programs at Level 5.
Entry Requirements
Entry level 1 – 72 points to complete Duration: 2 years part time
An Australian bachelor degree in a relevant discipline* or an equivalent qualification with at least credit (60%) average, or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA).
*Relevant disciplines include: Accounting, Business statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics and Business.

An Australian bachelor degree or equivalent qualification with at least credit (60%) average, or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) plus at least two years relevant work experience.
Entry level 2 – 48 points to complete Duration: 1.4 years part time
A Monash University Graduate Certificate of Managerial Analytics with at least credit (60%) average.
Applicants must meet the English language requirements.

Fees
For the Master of Managerial Analytics, the estimated cost is $4637.50 per unit. You may be eligible to receive a FEE-HELP loan to cover part or all of your tuition. Fees are subject to change annually.

Meet the team behind the course
Dr Haotian Chen
Course Director
Dr. Haotian Chen holds a Master’s degree in Applied Econometrics and earned his PhD in Applied Econometrics and Statistics in 2015. He has experience as a sessional lecturer at Monash University and served as a full-time lecturer at RMIT University in 2022. Dr. Chen has taught a range of courses in analytics and statistics, including Data Visualization and Analytics, Quantitative Methods for Risk Analysis, and Data Analysis in Business.
Jennifer Irwin-Persson
Industry Fellow
With over 30 years of experience in corporate Australia, including General Counsel and senior executive roles, Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge to the course. In particular, her insights inform the spectrum of managerial analytics topics, including data management, data governance, privacy, technology and ethical considerations for the use of technology including generative AI.
Hung Vo
Industry Fellow
As a senior leader in analytics, Hung draws on his extensive experience across industries such as retail, banking, public health and higher education, to deliver practical forward-looking knowledge on delivering data, reporting and analytics solutions. Prior to rejoining us an Industry Fellow, Hung worked within the Monash Business School to establish and scale our initial analytics capabilities. He is also a peer-reviewed researcher.
